hobbies

Two of my favorite hobbies are photography and decorating.  My darling husband bought me a nice DSLR camera for Christmas (and Anniversary and Birthday hehe).  I've enjoyed playing around with it and experimenting with the settings.  I'm really excited for the weather to get better to actually take some awesome pictures with it.

Another hobby is decorating.  I never used to care about decorating or crafting, but I think getting married did the trick.  I've been in extreme nesting mode the last two years.  I want to create and be an artist in my own home and I love it.  I've recently become more intrigued with vintage style decorating.  I love going to thrift stores to find some antiques that I can transform.  I recently thrifted a lamp and spray painted and added a lamp shade to it.  I LOVE IT.  I also like to go to thrift stores to find old glass bottles.  Some of them I leave them as they are, others I spray paint.  Here are a bunch of pictures of my latest creations.

Mason jar filled with a gold beaded garland my mom gave me.  It's perfect for the jar.

This mason jar is spray painted with Krylon's "Looking Glass" spray.  It give it a reflective finish!

All of these glass jars were thrifted finds and then spray painted!

This has more of a cream/gold theme.

This is a bottle I couldn't paint.  It's too beautiful and antique by itself, and it's very unique.  I probably won't find a jar that looks like this EVER again.

That painting is from my brother when he in Europe for work.  I can't remember if the painted is from Malta or Prague...

My thrifted lamp.  I'm proud of this one.

    3. The Krylon Looking Glass spray *I think* comes only in the metallic color. I got it from Hobby Lobby but I'm sure you can get it at Michael's or another craft store.

  8. The painting is Praga, that's the city center. If you ever go there you will not miss the view of those two towers.

  9. I tried the looking glass spray on a clear glass vase. It won't stick. Just kinda slides down the vase. Any tips on how I can get it to stick and coat properly?

    1. Hmm..that's interesting, I'm not quite sure. The only thing I can think of is to make sure to clean and dry the vase...and when you spray paint it don't hold the spray paint too close to the vase and do several light coats instead of putting a thick layer of spray paint. I'm not sure if that's helpful...
