new furniture: moved in!

We got our new furniture this past Friday which was great because we had all weekend to rearrange our apartment. So how did we moved things around in our apartment?

1. First we had to move the old furniture. Where did we move it? The two pieces of furniture that left our living room was our southwestern patterned sofa sleeper and our little gold recliner. We moved these two pieces of furniture up into our spare bedroom. We did this for several reasons: (1) if guests stay they can have their own room to sleep in, (2) so add extra sitting upstairs so that if one of us is on the computer doing work then the other can sit in the room also working on something else, and (3) when we host homegroup and split into lifegroups we have a bunch of seating in our spare bedroom for a lifegroup to go. So we moved the old furniture up to the spare bedroom. Once the sofa sleeper and recliner was in the spare bedroom we were able to hang things on the wall. I'd say that our spare bedroom is very cluttered and decorated in a cluttered way. But I like it :)

2. The new furniture came in! Once it did we had to recentered the canvas and sconces.

new furniture

As newlyweds and newly college grads, Rollin and I hadn't acquired much furniture. Therefore, for the past 9 months of marriage, our living room had consisted of a southwestern patterned couch, a mustard/gold small reclining chair, and a dark brown papasan.

Around November we started looking around for potential sofa and loveseat sets we could get. We had narrowed our choice to Ashley Furniture's durapella cocoa sofa and loveseat. Now we were just waiting to set aside the money and to get the right price.

We went back to Ashley's in the beginning of January to see what the price was and we weren't completely satisfied with the price. So we kept waiting for the right timing.

At the end of February we got a flyer in the mail that was a special 25% off deal only Friday March 4th from noon until 9. So we went so see what we could get the price for. When the sales consultant calculated the price for the sofa and loveseat with the 25% discount, added the tax, and added the delivery charge, the cost added up to be $8 under the amount we had set aside. PERFECT! So we got it!

Now we are waiting for it to get to the warehouse so we can set up a delivery time. Here's what it looks like...

spring is coming

This is the view from our bedroom balcony!

I was sitting out on the balcony spending time with Jesus. And then I looked straight up and look what I saw...

Do you see it?

The trees are budding! Spring is near!

Oh and this is the painting I did this weekend...

being crafty

i realized that i really like doing crafts and being artistic. it's my new hobby! it's relaxes me after going through a school day teaching one hundred crazy kids. my most recent project has been redecorating our bedroom. rollin and i had written our own vows and got them custom framed. we hung the frame in our bedroom on the wall above our bed. then on our other wall we put wall shelves. i'll let the pictures tell the story of my craftiness lately.

life from death

this past weekend i went for a walk with my friend in lemontree park. since winter is ending, the leaves are still dead and the wildflowers have a couple more weeks until they bloom and bring the spring. oddly as we walked through the park passing dead bushes and trees we came across a bright purple flower blossoming out of the dead bushes. it looked so beautiful. life coming out of something that looked dead.

it reminds me of isaiah 43:18-19 "Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?"
